Terms of use

What this is

Sam is a personal assistant built and operated by Samer Hany for his own use. It is not a commercial product, there is nothing to buy, and there are no accounts to create — the only person who can sign in is the owner.

Who may use it

The owner. Access is controlled by Google sign-in and checked against a single configured identity; everyone else is refused. Attempting to access it otherwise is not permitted.

What is promised

Nothing, and that is meant plainly rather than defensively. Sam runs on personal infrastructure, is changed frequently, and may be unavailable, wrong, or switched off without notice. It is provided as is, without warranty of any kind.

It writes drafts, summaries and suggestions. Those are starting points, not decisions — anything that matters should be read before it is acted on.

Other services it relies on

Sam connects to services with their own terms, and using it through them means agreeing to those too:

Google
Gmail, Calendar and Drive, under the Google Terms of Service.
OpenAI
Language model inference, under the OpenAI API terms.
Slack, WhatsApp
Only where the owner has chosen to reach Sam there.

Your data

What Sam accesses, stores and never does with it is described in the privacy policy, which is the document that actually matters here.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, the owner is not liable for any loss arising from using Sam or from anything it produces. Since the owner and the only user are the same person, this is less a disclaimer than a statement of fact.

Changes

These terms may change as the assistant does. The date at the top is the last substantive change; there is no notification, because there is no one to notify.
